Ⅰ. Xinjiang Statistical Yearbook-2009 (in both Chinese and English) is an annual statistic publication of comprehensive information with highly density. The yearbook covers very comprehensive data in 2008 and some selected data series in important years and the data since reform and opening of Xinjiang,reflects various aspects of Xinjiang’s social and economic development.

Ⅱ. The yearbook comprises such sections as: Special Article (Statistical Communique on National Economy and Social Development of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the year 2008); general survey; national accounts; population and employment; investment in fixed assets; government finance,financial intermediation and insurance;price indices;people’s livelihood and social security;general survey of cities;natural resources and environment protection; agriculture; industry; construction; transport, post and telecommunication services; wholesale & retail trades, hotels and catering services; production and consumption of energy;foreign trade & economic cooperation and tourism;education,science & technology and culture;sports,public health and others; enterprises group and prosperity index on enterprises;ranking of main economic indicators by region of Xinjiang; appendix (ranking of main economic indicators by region),etc.Each section is equipped with Explanatory Notes on Main Statistical Indicators at the end. 

Ⅲ. Compared with the Xinjiang Statistical Yearbook 2008,some changes are made in contents and in editing mode, including the following:

1) In the chapter of sports、public health and others are increased new tables of Basic conditions on institutions of new cooperative health care of agricultural and pastoral areas and clinic of village.

2) In order to reflecting economic of outstanding achievements since new China established 60 years.In the chapter of comprehensive are increased main indicators of national economic of Xinjiang and it’s increased rate.

Ⅳ.The units of measurement used in this yearbook are internationally standard measurement units.

Ⅴ. The computation of all the indicators in the yearbook is equipped with current prices.

Ⅵ. The data about Ili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture in the present Xinjiang Statistical Yearbook covers counties (cities) direct under Ili Prefecture, Tacheng Prefecture and Altay Prefecture.

Ⅶ. Description of signs or symbols in the yearbook:

“#”stands for interim item; “…” for data with insufficient decimal place; “blank” for absence of data indicators or ignorance of them.

Ⅷ. In the course of compilcation, the yearbook has received great support from many units and comrades in and out of Autonomous Region, we acknowledge their help to the book. Mistakes and faults are inevitable to take place for inadequate proficiency and limited time.
