The North China Pharmaceutical Group is a completely state-owned corporation that has been transformed from the original North China Pharmaceutical Factory that was set-up in 1958. The company has become increasingly commercialised, and has developed total assets of RMB 11 billion, with a compliment of 18,000 staff.

The Group is the largest pharmaceutical production enterprise in China, producing over 300 products, including antibiotics, semi-synthetic antibiotics, vitamins, genetically engineered pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, veterinary pharmaceuticals, medical intermediates and medical chemicals. The Group's production of antibiotics represents more than 10% of China's national total output.
