Hainan Statistical Yearbook 2008 is an annual statistics publication which comprehensively and systematically covers the social and economic development of whole Hainan Province. The yearbook has collected the social and economic development statistical data in year 2007 for 18 cities/counties, Hainan General Bureau of Land Reclamation (GBLR), Yangpu Economic Development Zone as well as major statistical data of whole province in importantly historical years.

Industry; 1 1.Construction; 12.Transpotion.Postal and Telecommunications 13.Wholesale and Retail Trade ,Hotel and Catering Services; 14.Tourism; 15.Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation; 1 6.Finance and Insurance; 1 7.Enterprise Groups and Business Climate Index; 1 8.Education Culture Science and Technology; 19.Pubic Health and Sport; 20.Social Welfare and Security. Explanatory Notes on Main Statistical Indicators are provided at the end of each part to briefly describe the content of main statistical indicators, and the scope, and statistical methods and historical changes are concerned.
III. According to the existing production management and administrative management system in Hainan province, the state owned land reclamation farms in the cities and counties are directly administrated by Hainan General Bureau of Land Reclamation. The data related with all cities and counties don’t cover the data related with land reclamation sector except for the data in respect of population, foreign economy, tourism, transport, post and communication, finance and banking, culture, education, public health, science and technology as well as the data specially marked with data for land reclamation sector. The data related with land reclamation farms are separately listed in item ¡°Land Reclamation¡±. Statistical data related with Yangpu Economic Development Zone are separately listed since it is under direct administration of provincial government. Considering that economic activities are few in Xisha Islands, Nansha Islands and Zhongsha Islands and that it is difficult to obtain statistical data source, other data will are not covered except for population, labor force and wage for Xisha Islands, Nansha Islands and Zhongsha Islands
IV. The units of measurement used in this book are internationally standard measurement units.
V. Path and scope of the data in this yearbook are basically based on the current national statistic system, the major data sources of this publication are obtained from annual statistical reports and sample surveys, and some from annual statistical reports of various departments responsible for the work.
VI. Due to rounding or different accounting unit, the amount of separate number may not correspond with the aggregative or relative ones in this yearbook.
VII. Notations used in the yearbook: indicates that the figure is not large enough to be measured with the smallest unit in the table, "blank space" indicates the data are unknown or are not available, "#" indicates a part of the total.
