The book is edited to draw more attention on and win better understanding of government finance operations We have tried, to the best of our capacity, to provide a statistics summary with the widest coverage and the best accuracy for further studies on the development of government finance in China.
In the language of statistical data, the book tries to systematically exhibit the development path of government finance since the founding of new China, particularly the contribution of government finance to the economic and social development in China during the reform era. The book is composed of eight parts The first three parts mainly cover the scope and growth of national and sub-national budget revenue and expenditure, the balance of national , main items of budget, and changes in the structure of national budget. The fourth part coven the scope and growth of national and sub-national off-budget revenue and expenditure. The fifth part covers the sales income, profit, tax paid, and equity of sate-owned enterprises. The sixth part coven the nationwide gross of state-owned equities, the assets and liabilities of sate-owned enterprises grouped by lines of trade and by geographic districts. The seventh part includes main indicators of the national economy. The eighth part contains main financial and economic indicators of Hong Kong Special Administration Region, Macao Special Administration Region, and Taiwan province. Readers may also find the graphical presentations of key financial and economic indicators in the appendix useful for international comparative studies.
